360 Degree Mental Health Support
When we talk about 360-degree mental health support what does that mean?
When we talk about 360-degree mental health support what does that mean?
Firstly, by recognising the often extreme nature of the mental health challenges faced by both paediatric and adult clients whose physical health needs can impact their view of the world and the way in which they interact, function and live.
One of the main objectives of TOTUS is to successfully identify the specific and unique mental health challenges that many of those who need high levels of care face.
TOTUS will become champions for best practices by researching, identifying and implementing the most effective models of mental health care and ultimately become an advocate for clients in every sense of the word.
Additionally, determining that significant family members, who may be struggling themselves, could also be supported with any mental health provision. This will obviously benefit the primary client but just as importantly would take a massive step towards accepting that mental health support can be needed by family members too.
TOTUS believes that it is essential to the well-being of the family ‘unit’ – where almost always there is a lack of mental health assistance – to provide the required support.
Supporting and training staff is also central to what TOTUS will create. Staff should be a company’s most valued resource, so supporting them both mentally and with quality/relevant training is imperative. Additionally carrying out comprehensive Wellbeing Surveys with all staff to identify any level of required support is another important aspect of the partnership between TOTUS and CareFirst24.
Offering staff a comprehensive understanding of their client‘s mental health needs – as well as supporting their own mental health – is integral to the TOTUS vision.
In time TOTUS will provide a wide range of mental health/well-being training to help staff understand both the importance of positive mental health and recognising and supporting their own psychological well-being.
